INTend declares its intentions

INTend, Tendring Council’s regeneration company, has today launched its first Delivery Plan.

In the three months since the Company was formed, its Board has moved rapidly to put in place the necessary arrangements to help it achieve its key objective of delivering a difference in the District. They have created the structures and started to recruit the staff with the specialist skills needed to move from plans to delivery. This latest stage shows what it will actually mean to people in the towns and villages across Tendring.

‘The Plan clearly identifies twenty or more projects, small and large, that we will be seeking to continue or commence work on in our first year’ said David Lines, Chairman of the Company. ‘ Recently, there has been speculation about what the Company will be doing and I hope that people across the District will now be able to see the impact we propose making by moving forward with both physical projects and new initiatives to help our residents transform their communities over the coming years’

The Plan makes clear that new proposals can come from a variety of sources, including Parish Councils and Community Groups. Mr Lines  went on to say ‘We are about helping people deliver their own projects as well as working with partners, such as the Local Strategic partnership, and other agencies to maximise opportunities for all sections of the Tendring population. They will all, of course, have to demonstrate that there is strong community support for their ideas.’

The Plan identifies both specific projects and a number of emerging opportunities that the Company wishes to explore, some of which will take shape over a number of years. It is very much a living document and new projects will be added as they emerge in months and years to come.

‘This Plan is not only about what INTend is and what it will do,’ said David, ‘we also want to use it to attract new investment and new money to the District. That is why we have allocated some £500,000 to a development fund to unlock these many opportunities and hope to replenish that fund from various sources over time once earlier projects are successfully completed.’
