Clacton Seafront

Clacton ’s Greatest Asset is its seafront. The transformation of Clacton Seafront is a Priority Project for Tendring District Council, and the aim is to create a premier, 21st Century resort offering a high quality all year round experience and facilities.

Of particular importance to the realisation of the Vision for Clacton is the redevelopment of the key pier gap gateway which links the town centre to the beaches and Pier. 

On behalf of the Council INTend commissioned international property consultants Broadway Malyan and internationally-renowned urban designers Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway to work with residents and the business community to deliver proposals for the Pier Gap Gateway area.

Under the banner of ‘Celebrate-on Sea – putting the fun back into Clacton-on Sea’ the concept designs produced will be used to bid for public sector funding and encourage private sector interest and investment in Clacton.

The report was submitted to the Council on 6 August 2010 and will be used as a material consideration to inform the preparation of the Clacton Area Action Plan on which the Council will be consulting shortly. In the meantime the Company has been asked to start investigating how some of the proposals can be implemented.
