Clacton Town Centre

During 2006/07 Clacton town centre benefited from a major highways road safety and environmental improvement scheme. The changes aimed to both ease congestion and enhance the marketability and image of Clacton for existing traders and potential investors whilst also improving the town centre experience for residents and visitors. In total these works cost in the region of £2m and have been well received. Full details can be found on the Council website.
Regeneration – the future
The Pier ward of Clacton has been highlighted as an area in significant need of regeneration. Using Government Safer Stronger Communities Funding the Building Design Partnership were engaged on behalf of the Interaction Neighbourhood Management Partnership Board to carry out an analysis of Clacton Town Centre and draw up a physical development options for consultation report outlining ideas and opportunities.
This work, which resulted the identification of seven potential investment sites has recently been completed, and a month long public consultation has just taken place This consultation process sought the opinions of residents and businesses on the proposals within the full report. A summary of these options is also available.
